Go Behind-the-Scenes of “Ash vs Evil Dead”!

Published

on

A new video for the upcoming Starz series “Ash vs Evil Dead” goes behind-the-scenes and lets us hear from cast and crew about what we can expect and their own experiences with the show.

It’s awesome to see Bruce Campbell talk so passionately about the project as well as seeing him have tons of fun in the role of Ash. It’s also great that we get to see Sam Raimi in action as well as hear from composer Joseph LoDuca, who composed the original Evil Dead trilogy, about what we as fans can look forward to seeing. Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo also each chime in with their views.

In the 10-episode “Ash vs Evil Dead” series premiering this fall, “Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Ash vs Evil Dead” comes to Starz this Halloween, October 31st.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
