Indie Horror ‘Stairs’ Steps Onto Steam This Month

I want you to read that headline as quickly as you can, out loud, five times over, because I think it’d be a challenge and I hear you fancy a challenge. Other things that one might consider challenging include, but aren’t limited to, groaning when M. Night Shyamalan’s name suddenly shows up during a movie trailer and taking a tragic, real-life event and adapting it into a video game.

Kholat was mostly successful in its endeavor to do just that with the freaky Dyatlov Pass incident, and we may soon get another “based on a true story” victory with the first-person psychological horror game Stairs, which aims to do something similar with its tale of a trio of missing persons and one journalist’s efforts to find them.

Developer GreyLight Entertainment promises to gift us with a narrative made up of three interconnected tales. There will be environments to interact with, puzzles to solve, and a camera to “capture supernatural elements”, because that’s mandatory for indie horror games right now.

Stairs hits Steam on September 28.
