Although no formal announcement has been made by Toho, it’s pretty clear that production on Godzilla 2016 has kicked off and is in full effect. The evidence began on September 5th when we posted photos of streets in Tokyo that were shut down for filming. In addition, more photos have been appearing all over Twitter since then.
Not too much is known about the upcoming film as Toho is choosing to remain quite secretive about the project, which is perfectly fine with me. I know that at some point Godzilla is going to knock down some buildings and fight off a giant kaiju monster. Everything else is just filling in the gaps!
Godzilla 2016 is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan). Anno has written the script.
