‘Dead Island: Epidemic’ Shuts Down for Good in October

Published

After spending less than a year in Early Access, Deep Silver has announced they’ll be taking their experimental MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic out back on October 15 so they can shoot it in the head. Despite being the entry to embrace the series’ inherent zaniness, the game struggled to find an audience. It had some genuinely neat ideas, I just don’t think it could’ve done much to give MOBA players a reason to leave the likes of DOTA or League of Legends.

“We will be leaving the servers open until the end of October 15th (Pacific Time), during which time we’ll run a very large discount on all characters and boosts to give everyone a chance to spend any remaining currency on characters and items you may have wanted to try before, but never did.”

Between this and the possible cancellation of Dead Island 2, the future of this once promising horror franchise is looking somewhat grim right now.

What happened to Calvin?

A new trailer for psychological horror movie The Portrait asks this very question, setting the stage for a hallucinatory trip that sees its lead questioning her own mind.

Head over to Deadline to watch the trailer now.

The psychological ghost story is written by David Griffiths (The Hunted) and will mark the feature directorial debut for Simon Ross.

In the film, “After her husband is devastated by a tragic accident, a devoted wife obsesses over a mysterious portrait that resembles him as he was, but when it starts to terrorize her, she must decide if it’s possessed or if she’s losing her mind.”

The Portrait stars Natalia Cordova-Buckley (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Bates Motel”), Ryan Kwanten (Glorious, “True Blood”), Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen (Candyman), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (“The Passage”) and Isidora Goreshter (Clara’s Ghost).

Ross executive produces alongside Oliver Brown and Keith Haviland.
