So it appears that pretty much the entire cast of the original Ghostbusters movies are in Paul Feig’s upcoming reboot/remake as Sigourney Weaver has just been confirmed to make an appearance. This news came directly from Feig himself, who tweeted it earlier today.
Weaver’s role has not been revealed, the same as Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson, each of whom have been confirmed in the recent months to appear in the movie.
While a cameo from one, maybe two of the original stars could’ve gotten away with not being their original characters, having four people (and possibly more, with how things are going) would make it really silly for them to not play their original characters. For those who have seen the original films (which is pretty much everyone), it’d be way too weird for so many of these familiar faces to not have the same names.
Ghostbusters stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth. It hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
