Bloober Team is bringing their acclaimed psychedelic horror game Layers of Fear to the Xbox One later this year, because a game that’s as wonderfully strange as this should never be restricted to just one platform. That’s just not right.
Layers of Fear first debuted on Steam Early Access back in August, where it introduced us to its richly detailed, and often terrifying, world inspired by 19th century paintings. The game follows a painter who is as talented at making masterpieces out of a canvas and some paint as he is at being legit crazy. Also, that stunning house he lives in is totally trying to break him.
Bloober is still working on it — the press release says it’s about 80% complete — so rather than wait for it to be finished, they’re going to release it through the Game Preview platform, which is essentially Microsoft’s version of Early Access.
