The Chinese supernatural drama/horror film Chunmeng has been acquired by Primary Wave Entertainment for remake rights, according to Deadline. The film is about, “…a woman whose marriage is threatened by a spirit that allegedly sexually assaults her at night.” The remake, which is being titled Rapture is being directed by Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror) and produced by Joaquin Padro (The Orphanage) with Adam Davenport writing the script.

The original film was awarded the Special Mention at the 2013 Hong Kong International Film Festival.

Padro exclaims that this remake, “…has all the elements of great horror: a great premise and a new twist to the genre with a complex female lead role.” Meanwhile, Douglas adds that it’s, “…a film that seeks to be both horror and drama, like Let The Right One In or The Exorcist, with provocative modern ideas.
