We’ve teamed up with dark electronic pop band Squid Lid to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for “Shark Club”, which comes from their upcoming album Tackle Box. The video reminds me of those crazy sci-fi rave parties you’d see in 80’s and 90’s movies. They were wildly colorful but also rather decrepit and featured a ton of UV-activated paint. It’s got that whole “cyberpunk” thing down pat!
The band explains to BD:
This video portrays a lab experiment’s journey thru modification and the visions she experiences of past lab experiments, onlooking creeper clients, and the monstrous internal struggle that materializes inside herself in order to preserve her identity and sanity. This is an abstract commentary on the need in some people to push the envelope of their own body modification and master their own evolution. It continues the motto of the band itself : show yourself, wear a mask.
