Whether it’s Annabelle, Chucky or even Pinocchio, dolls coming to life on film can be a scary thing.
William Brent Bell (Stay Alive, The Devil Inside and WER) is tapping into these fears with a new take in STX’s upcoming horror, The Boy, which stars “The Walking Dead’s” Lauren Cohan.
The other week we shared the first trailer for The Boy, which channels Don Mancini and Tom Holland’s Child’s Play, as well as James Wan’s The Conjuring/Annabelle.
Now, we have the first poster that delivers the chilling message: “Every child needs to feel loved.”
In The Boy , “Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.”
The Boy comes to life on January 22, 2016.
