“The Walking Dead” Makes Perfect Casting Choice For Negan!

Published

Okay, so this is a HUGE shot of adrenaline in AMC’s “The Walking Dead“! For as much as everyone around here defends the show, there are just as many people who find it tedious, boring, and simply lacking. I have really tried to enjoy it and was even one of those guys who watched every episode the night it premiered (had to go to my friend’s house too, so my interest was strong). But there’s no denying that the show falters just as often as it succeeds, perhaps more.

If you’ve read the comics, you know that the role of Negan is one that causes a great deal of change and drama within the story. And now, AMC has confirmed the actor that’s meant to fill those shoes and it’s none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan! The Possession star has been locked down to play the major villain, according to THR, and will supposedly make his first appearance in the season six finale.

Negan’s character in the comics is vicious, brutal, and totally unforgiving. He’s the leader of “The Saviors”, a group of thugs who demand payment from local communities in exchange for protection. Negan carries around a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat named “Lucille” that he’s not hesitant to use. And for those who have read the comics, you know that he uses it against one of the main characters in a shocking and especially cruel manner. His arrival could mean that dark times are on the horizon for “The Walking Dead”.

Personally, I think that this is an inspired casting decision. Morgan is a fantastic actor and he has the build and the look of Negan. I honestly believe he’s going to bring some a ferocity to the series that we haven’t seen yet, not even from The Governor.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
