Arrow Video Pushes Back ‘The Mutilator’ Blu-ray Release

Published

Yesterday on their Video Deck blog, Arrow Video provided an update on their Blu-ray release of the cult classic The Mutilator. Part of the update was that the release was being pushed back until February 15th, 2016. Normally this would be seen as a bad thing. The Mutilator is a Blu-ray release that I have been anticipating for quite some time now, so yeah it’s a bit of a bummer to have to wait a little longer, but the reasoning is oh, so worth it!

Here’s a snippet from the blog:

But then, after the frustration came the reward – at the eleventh hour, word came to us that an uncut 35mm print indeed existed and was held at the Library of Congress. Better yet, it was virtually unplayed, being as it was the copy that the filmmakers had deposited for copyright purposes. Naturally, we resolved to get our hands on the print and, after some wrangling, the Library of Congress dutifully obliged. We’re now overjoyed to say that we are eagerly beavering away on prepping our new master, confident in the knowledge that we are working with the best possible material we have been able to source.

That’s right, we’re getting a completely uncut Blu-ray release of The Mutilator! Oh and it’s going to look even more fantastic because the print is basically unwatched! Rejoice horror fans, this is great news indeed!

Written and directed by Buddy Cooper, The Mutilator stars Matt Mitler, Ruth Martinez and Bill Hitchcock and is a favorite of director Eli Roth.

Synopsis:
A teenager who accidentally committed matricide finds himself being hunted together with his girlfriend and mates by his now crazed father.

Chris Coffel is originally from Phoenix, AZ and now resides in Portland, OR. He once scored 26 goals in a game of FIFA. He likes the Phoenix Suns, Paul Simon and 'The 'Burbs.' Oh and cats. He also likes cats.

Get ready for double the fun, protagonists, and body count when Ready or Not 2: Here I Come explodes on streaming next week.

Just in time for the fireworks, the sequel makes its streaming debut on Hulu and Disney+ on July 2.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett are back, along with Samara Weaving, for more hide and slay mayhem.

Picking up moments after the all-out attack from the Le Domas family in the first Ready or Not movie, Grace (Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.

That means a higher body count and even more explosive carnage. Just how much? A whopping 325 gallons worth, the directors previously told BD.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, Varun Saranga, and Daniel Beirne also star.

I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “More is more in Ready or Not 2. Bigger stakes, larger playing field, a higher (and more gruesome) body count, and even double the protagonists. It’s all designed to deliver maximum crowd-pleasing fun.”

The horror-comedy sequel is written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
