Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.
So this is a weird week. Only two new releases this week that are worth highlighting (IMO) and both come from Scream Factory. This surprises me a bit. I would think the Tuesday before Christmas would be a fairly heavy release day. Maybe give people a few last minute gift options, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Still the two releases Scream Factory is giving us this week are very good. Nice to see The Brain that Wouldn’t Die is now available on Blu-ray. Absolutely love when movies like that get the Blu-ray treatment.
I’ve also started something new this week. As well as including where the release are from I will now be adding the region coding. This will be helpful because not all films released overseas are region B. I do want to point out that the region coding I am listing will come courtesy of Blu-ray.com which isn’t always accurate. Unless I know a film is for sure different than what Blu-ray.com is listed, I’m going to go with their info.

The Brain that Wouldn’t Die (Scream Factory, Region A)
Synopsis:
Dr. Bill Cortner has been performing experimental surgery on human guinea pigs without authorization and against the advice of his father, also a surgeon. When Bill’s fiancée Jan Compton is decapitated in an automobile accident, he manages to keep her brain alive. He now needs to find a new body for his bride-to-be and settles on Doris Powell, a glamor model with a facial disfigurement. Jan meanwhile doesn’t want to continue her body-less existence and calls upon the creature hidden in the basement, one of Bill Cortner’s unsuccessful experiments, to break loose…
