Absolutely shocking news as the legendary musician/actor David Bowie has passed away at age 69 after an elongated battle with cancer, according to his official Facebook page.
The page writes, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
His passing comes days after the release of his 25th studio album Blackstar, which has been met with high praise and critical acclaim. To celebrate the album’s release, we dedicated last Friday’s Twisted Music Video of the Week in his name with several of his videos.
To say that Bowie’s legacy was an influence on countless artists is an understatement. The man was a pioneer in so much of what he did. His loss leaves me in a state of shock and my eyes widened and my breath stopped when I read the post.
I thank him for everything that he’s had to offer us over the long tenure of his career.
Thank you, Mr. Bowie. You fought long and hard. Rest now in peace.
