Sci-fi Horror ‘Stasis’ is Getting a Prequel in ‘Cayne’
You might remember Stasis as the visually stunning amalgam of Dead Space-esque sci-fi horror and old school point-and-click adventure gaming goodness that made the world a better place when it released on Steam back in August.
Stasis is one of those rare exceptional indies we get maybe once or twice a year. It’s the sort of game that shows the value of crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo and Kickstarter — despite the inherent risk in giving money to strangers — because without the $133k Christopher Bischoff’s The Brotherhood studio raised on the latter, it might not exist today. And even if that weren’t the case, that money is what bought them the time they needed to build a world that’s worth revisiting.
Speaking of which…
“The Brotherhood is now running as a full time development studio,” wrote Bischoff in a post published yesterday to announce the Stasis prequel chapter, Cayne.
Bischoff has lofty goals for his studio’s next game, saying it will “astound, disgust, and amaze” us without straying too far from its roots in 80s sci-fi horror. I’m confident they won’t disappoint. The Brotherhood has chosen to build Cayne from the ground up using everything they learned during the five years they spent making Stasis. It’s a risky, time-devouring decision that gives them considerably more room to experiment with new ideas and technologies.
The work we’re doing will hopefully blow your minds, because the passion is palpable and the excitement we have for the future is tangible. It’s going to be a wild ride.”

Epic’s Fortnite is heading for another crossover, this time with Universal Orlando and Halloween Horror Nights. The title’s annual Fortnitemares Halloween event will be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort in a new scare zone, kicking off on August 28.
For those not in the know, Scare zones are themed, open-air areas where guests and actors roam around freely.
This is the first time Fortnite will be featured during the after-hours event, which will run from August 28 until November 1. Tickets and packages are on sale now at the official site.
Per the press release, guests will enter Freaky Fields, a Halloween-inspired living battleground that’s been “overcome with a threatening force.” From there, fans will meet up with the Battle Bus, featuring familiar Fortnitemares characters, including “a few new additions exclusive to Halloween Horror Nights.”
And of course, there will be Fortnitemares merchandise available for fans, including a graphic t-shirt, decal set, and an acrylic collectible piece.
Fortnitemares won’t be the only featured property at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. Killer Klowns from Outer Space will also be getting its own scare zone. Sinners, Stranger Things, Hellraiser, and Evil Dead Burn will also be part of the event, though they will be relegated to their own specific houses.
And while it’s early yet, gamers can probably expect Fortnitemares to return to Fortnite this October.
