Starry Eyes set the indie world afire, and now filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer have teamed once again for a love-struck tale set on Valentine’s Day.
Bloody-Disgusting has the world exclusive premiere of a clip and image from Kolsch and Widmyer’s “Valentine’s Day” story, which is part of the upcoming horror anthology Holidays.
The image and accompanying clip show a young girl who is infatuated with her diving coach. What kind of horror will teen’s obsession bring?
“We wanted to tell a very dark tale of romance from the POV of a love-struck teenager,” the duo told Bloody Disgusting. “To us, that was a nice confluence of mixed emotions. We also don’t see a lot of movies with the setting of a High School dive team. So the world of the story felt unique to us.”
Added John Hegeman, Distant Corners President and producer on the film: “Holidays in general are always a balance of anticipation and dread. I love how the day can really freak people out and things can just spiral in to complete chaos. With ‘Valentine’s Day,’ Kevin and Dennis hit it out of the park. They’re crazy.”
Holidays is an anthology feature film that puts a uniquely dark and original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved Holidays of all time. A collaboration of some of Hollywood’s most distinct voices, the directors include Kevin Smith (Tusk, Yoga Hosers), Gary Shore (Dracula Untold), Scott Stewart (Dark Skies), Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes), Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim), Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact) Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate) and Anthony Scott Burns (Darknet). Holidays is produced by John Hegeman’s Distant Corners Entertainment in conjunction with XYZ Films.
