Trip hop/electronic mega group Massive Attack have released an official video for their track “Voodoo in my Blood”, which features Young Fathers and appears on their new EP Ritual Spirit (iTunes).
The video itself is an homage to Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm and Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession. It stars Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Doom), who walks down a subway tunnel, acting strangely, as though something might be following her. Her movements are jerky and exaggerated, as though she is possessed (a lá Possession), and there is clear fear and worry across her face. Suddenly, she comes face-to-face with a floating silver orb (hi Phantasm!) that nearly pokes her eye out and then forces her to move awkwardly and erratically, like some demonic dance.
It’s awesome to see that horror is such a strong influence on such a wide range of musical artists. I’m loving the video and definitely recommend checking it out!
