‘The Cat Lady’ Dev Returns to Horror With ‘Downfall’

Harvester Games has a very distinctive, high-contrast art style that caught my eye a few years ago when I played their psychological horror game The Cat Lady. There’s a surreal quality to their work that brings a dreamlike atmosphere to the virtual worlds they build that makes exploring them feel like I’m living in an old graphic novel I found in a street puddle.

I meant that in a good way.

Their latest game, Downfall, shares the same gloomy aesthetic of their previous release, so if any of the above sounds like the compliment it was meant to be, then you should check it out.

Downfall’s tale of “love, madness and murder” follows Joe as he makes a desperate attempt to rescue his marriage from ruin by taking his wife on a romantic getaway that, perhaps unsurprisingly, goes from “bad to worse, and from worse… to insanity.”

Dun Dun, Duuuunnnnnnn…
