Another Insane ‘Baskin’ Trailer Is Deliciously Gory!

Can Evrenol’s Turkish horror film Baskin, which premiered at TIFF’s Midnight Madness, will be opening on VOD and in limited theaters March 25th through IFC Midnight.

You can read my review, where I write, “It’s so shocking (at times) and so astoundingly well made that, if anything, I think it puts an exclamation stamp next to Can Evrenol’s name as one of the futures of horror.

Baskin, based on the short of the same name, sends a squad of unsuspecting cops through a trapdoor to Hell when they stumble upon a Black Mass in an abandoned building.

The festival trailer was pure insanity at an unrelenting pace, while the new U.S. trailer is more level-headed and representational of the slow-burn nature of the trip through Hell. It’s still borderline NSFW and taps into the vein of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.

If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
