‘Suspiria’ Remake to Star Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton?!

Tilda Swinton in Sony's Only Lovers Left Alive

The remake to Dario Argento’s Giallo masterpiece Suspiria is still brewing.

While Luca Guadagnino was recently revealed to be the film’s latest director, it was still impossible to know just how real the project was.

There’s been multiple directors attached, as well as stars, so it’s hard to really believe anything until pictures are officially up. But for now we can imagine what Suspiria would look like with two of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

During a Q+A Johnson revealed that Dakota Johnson, pictured below, and Tilda Swinton, above, will both star in the remake that’s to be set in 1977 Berlin.

As awful, terrible and unwatchable as Fifty Shades of Grey is, it’s hard to deny the star power of Johnson who I believe would be the perfect lead in a new Suspiria.

Swinton needs no introduction as she’s one of the best actresses on the planet, with recent genre fares including We Need to Talk About Kevin, Constantine, Snowpiercer, Only Lovers Left Alive and Scott Derrickson’s adaptation of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. I would love to see her interpretation as a leader of a coven of witches.

In the 1977 original, “In a stormy night, the American dancer Suzy Bannion arrives in Freiburg coming from New York to join a famous and expensive ballet school for a three years training. On the next morning, she is informed by the direction of the school that a student she met leaving the place on the previous night was violently murdered and the police is investigating the crime. She becomes friend of another student, Sara, and she realizes that the house is indeed a coven of evil witches.

Guadagnino also revealed that Suspiria will feature a score by classic composer John Adams and “will be the most Fassbinderian of all his films.”

Filming was to begin last month, so let’s see if this even comes into fruition. What do you guys think?
