‘Don’t Breathe’ Is the Title of ‘Evil Dead’ Director’s Next!

Last night Sony Screen Gems and Ghost House Pictures’ revealed Don’t Breathe as the official title to Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez’s upcoming thriller.

Trace raved about the film reteaming Alvarez with Evil Dead star Jane Levy, which follows a group of teens who break into a blind man’s home thinking they’ll get away with the perfect crime.

In his review out of last night’s World Premiere, he stated that “Don’t Breathe is like Hitchcock on crack.”

Prisoners actor Dylan Minnette also stars in the pic, previously called A Man in the Dark, with Daniel Zovatto and Stephen Lang.

Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues wrote the script for the project, which is produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House Pictures. J.R. Young, Nathan Kahane, Joe Drake and Erin Westerman executive produce.

The film was shot last summer in Budapest and Detroit.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
