We just scored a brand new look at Rob Zombie’s hotly anticipated 31, his Halloween-themed slasher that World Premiered at this past January’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Our own Fred Topel reviewed the movie, calling it “Rob Zombie’s The Running Man.”
In 31, “Five friends are kidnapped on the day before Halloween and are held hostage in a terrifying place named Murder World. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31, in which the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.”
Sheri Moon Zombie, Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, and even Meg Foster star.
31 initially received an NC-17 before finally getting the much-needed R-rating from the dreaded MPAA for “strong bloody horror violence, pervasive language, sexual content and drug use.”
Alchemy acquired distribution rights, but their current financial situation could cause a headache for 31‘s release. While nothing is imminent, it’s something to keep our eyes on. Here’s hoping we get bloody mayhem some time this year!
