‘Oxenfree’ Arrives On PS4 With Free Content

Published

on

The supernatural teen thriller Oxenfree is available now on PS4, and it’s even better than it was before with New Game+. Night School Studios added the option to their delightfully creepy hand drawn horror game about a gaggle of teens whose night gets ruined in a big way when they try to have a party on an island inhabited by vengeful spirits and nifty doors with locks that respond to certain radio frequencies.

“Every owner of the game should now be able to update Oxenfree and experience the continuation of Alex’s story,” explains an update on the game’s Steam page. “The new mode will allow players to continue beyond the original “ending” into a new and exciting chapter of the game’s story.”

Better yet, it’s free for all. It’ll be like it was always there, just boot up the game and you’ll see it staring back at you like a message scrawled from beyond the grave.

It won’t be exactly like that, but you get it. And if you haven’t gotten it yet, you really should consider getting it. You wouldn’t want to be the only one who doesn’t get it. Get me? Cool.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
