Cult Horror Classic ‘D’ is Now on GOG

Most of the world never had the chance to complete Kenji Eno’s D trilogy, which had a strong start about two decades ago with the original D, a psychological horror game about that’s more or less representative of the era and its unfortunate fascination with FMVs. It also featured cannibalism and a female lead, neither of which were very popular in the 90’s. It was a hit in Japan that went largely unnoticed everywhere else, though it’s found a cult following since then because that’s what happens to 90’s horror games now.

Its story is similar to the numerous other obscure titles the genre has long forgotten about, like The 7th Guest and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, both recent additions to the Night Dive Studios home for wayward horror games that no one has seriously thought about playing in a very long time. It was really just a matter of time that D would join the company that’s now responsible for the future of System Shock, where it should finally have a future, whatever that might mean.

Its new home has already proved beneficial for fans, who can finally get that D — surely there’s a better way to say that — without having to risk death in an attic to find a dusty 3DO. It’s available now on PC, Mac and Linux for the totally-worth-it price of $5.99 on GOG.

Go now, stranger, and scratch your itch for that sweet, sweet D.
