New to Blu-ray

Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

Welcome to the first week of September releases! Lots and lots of good stuff this week. In the US we have Hard Target 2 which is one I’m eager to check out. The UK is getting Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and Australia is getting Dolph Lundgren’s The Punisher on Blu-ray, which is seemingly available everywhere in the world but the US, so if that film interests you it may be time you look to import yourself a copy. The most interesting releases this week though are four Gene Wilder films – two in the US and two in Australia. The US releases of Haunted Honeymoon and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother are world-wide Blu-ray debuts for both films. All four of these releases were planned months in advance, so kind of weird how the timing worked out, but I’d now expect this to be in even more demand.

After experimenting on himself, Jekyll transforms himself into the young, dynamic and self-confidant Edward Hyde. In his new character he befriends Allen, who has no idea of that this clean-cut, handsome playboy prone to outbursts of violence is really Jekyll. As Hyde, he encourages Allen to introduce him to the dark underbelly of London’s night life. When he tries to seduce Allen’s mistress, in reality his own wife, he is frustrated to find she prefers her decadent lover to him…
