Trick or Treat Studios Previews Massive Halloween 2017 ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Mask Collection
Halloween 2017 is pretty far off, but it’s always fun to look ahead!
No mask-making company on the planet right now does it better than Trick or Treat Studios, who first made their presence known on the Halloween scene with the most screen-accurate Michael Myers mask to ever be mass produced. They’ve outdone themselves yet again with their 2016 offerings, but they’re already looking forward to the NEXT Halloween season.
As announced over on the official Trick or Treat Studios Facebook page, the company just acquired the rights to the entire Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, a deal they say has been an incredible five years in the making. They have been granted exclusivity to masks and costumes based on the series, and Halloween 2017 will see the launch of a massive collection of goods.
Masks based on every film in the franchise, including the 2003 remake, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, and Texas Chainsaw 3D will be part of the collection, and they’re not even leaving much maligned sequel The Next Generation out in the cold. It’ll likely be a while before we see most of this stuff, but a sneak preview of three of the masks has already been unveiled.
Check out the upcoming Leatherface, “Dinner Scene” Leatherface, and Grandpa masks below!

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
