One week before “The Walking Dead” returns to AMC, the network has already announced, much to the surprise of absolutely nobody, that the hit zombie series has been renewed for an eighth season. The announcement came just before the airing of tonight’s recap special “The Walking Dead: The Journey So Far,” which saw the cast and crew reflecting on all the heartbreak and bloodshed we’ve experienced thus far.
Season 8 of “The Walking Dead” will feature sixteen episodes and is set to premiere in the fall of next year. It’s worth noting that the eighth season premiere will be the show’s 100th episode. Post-show “Talking Dead” has also been renewed.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, more,” said AMC president Charlie Collier. “What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”
Meanwhile, Season 7 begins Sunday night, October 23rd.
And yes, we will find out who Negan brutally murdered.
