Trailer Announces Blu-ray Release of 1988 Film ‘Elvira: Mistress of the Dark’

“My name’s Elvira, but you can call me tonight.”

Back in 1988, director James Signorelli brought buxom horror hostess Elvira to the big screen for the first time in the form of her very own movie, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. In the comedy-horror film, Elvira inherits her great aunt’s home in conservative Massachusetts and finds herself accused of witchcraft, and the character’s film debut is now headed to Blu-ray.

As scooped by Destroy the Brain, German company Cinespectral Films is bringing Elvira: Mistress of the Dark to Blu-ray for the very first time on December 1st, and the 3-disc set will reportedly be Region Free. The release boasts a brand new 4K-to-2K scan from the original interpositive and will apparently come loaded with special features.

The limited set will feature special packaging, and only 3,000 copies in total will be made available; three different packages with three different pieces of art will be up for grabs at a quantity of 1,000 apiece. The Digibook-style release will also come complete with a 60-page booklet about the film – 30-pages in English, and the other 30 in translated German.

While we wait for more info, check out the buxom Blu-ray release trailer!

In Elvira: Mistress of the Dark:

When her great aunt dies, famous horror hostess Elvira heads for the uptight New England town Falwell to claim her inheritance of a haunted house, a witch’s cookbook and a punk rock poodle. But once the stuffy locals get an eyeful of the scream queen’s ample assets, all hell busts out and breaks loose. Can the Madonna of the Macabre find love with a studly cinema owner, avoid her creepy great uncle, titillate the town’s teens and become a Las Vegas dance sensation all without being burned alive at the stake?
