Ecto Cooler Sadly Returns to the Containment Unit in December
Some things are just too good for this world.
Whether you loved it or hated it, you must at least appreciate that this year’s Ghostbusters reboot opened the door for Hi-C to FINALLY bring back the beloved ’80s flavor Ecto Cooler. The drink, which originally hit shelves as a tie-in with animated series “The Real Ghostbusters,” had been off the market for over a decade before making its grand return this past May.
The rebooted Ecto Cooler was available in both vintage juice boxes as well as soda cans, and it quickly became the hottest food product of the summer. Nostalgic fans searched high and wide for the citrus-flavored, green-colored drink, and it proved to be harder to find than originally expected; thankfully, Amazon came through for those of us who couldn’t find it in stores.
But alas, Ecto Cooler will soon die yet another death.
The official Ecto Cooler Facebook page just reported the sad news that the Ghostbusters-themed drink will again be leaving us this December. We have no idea when – if ever – the beverage will again return to store shelves, but we’re thinking now would be a good time to stock up. After all, the last time the drink went away, it went away for a LONG time.
Grab some Ecto Cooler over on Amazon while you can!

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
