So wait… who is Bill Moseley in Army of Darkness?!

In the wake of roles in horror films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out!, and Tom Savini’s Night of the Living Dead, horror icon Bill Moseley made his mark on the Evil Dead franchise with an appearance in 1992’s Army of Darkness. But the role he played, well, there’s been much confusion about that over the years.

Moseley is officially credited in Army of Darkness as “Deadite Captain,” which has led many to believe he’s the character us fans commonly refer to as “Evil Ash”; the zombie-like badass that Ash’s evil counterpart becomes after he’s killed and buried by “Good Ash.” So widespread is this belief that it’s almost become common knowledge that yes, Moseley played “Evil Ash” in the film.

This, however, is not at all correct.

As @ChopTopMoseley was forced to clear up over on Twitter recently, the role he actually played in Army of Darkness was “New Captain of the Army of the Dead,” who is not Evil Ash but rather Evil Ash’s right-hand man. And a quick search through Moseley’s tweet history (below) reveals that he’s attempted to clear up this confusion several times over the years!

So who actually played Evil Ash in Army of Darkness? Bruce Campbell, of course!
