The scariest scene in The Exorcist wasn’t even originally in the film.
Remember that terrifying moment in William Friedkin’s classic wherein a possessed Regan descends the stairs of her home completely backwards, on her hands and feet? Fans have dubbed it the “spider-walk scene,” and it wasn’t actually part of the film until a 2000 re-release that allowed Friedkin to digitally remove the visible wires that forced him to cut it back in 1973.
FOX’s “The Exorcist” just recreated that moment this past Friday night.
In the Jennifer Phang-directed “Chapter Six: Star of the Morning,” Father Marcus is on the hunt for the possessed Casey Rance after her escape in Episode 5, and he finds himself in a dark tunnel that is literally crawling with demonic vagrants. After Marcus uses the power of Christ to fend off an attack, Casey appears: she crawls onto a wall and then spider-walks away.
