I know nothing about soccer. But these are awesome.
What if there was an entire soccer league made up of teams inspired by popular horror movies and television shows? This is admittedly something I’ve never pondered, but as someone who doesn’t watch sports – aside from pro wrestling, if you choose to count that – I must admit that even I would be compelled to regularly tune in. Because come on. That’d be pretty awesome.
Artist Jaza Romero, who is presumably way more into soccer than I am, just put his art skills to the test to imagine such a soccer league, and the results are seriously freakin’ cool. Romero designed 11 different soccer jerseys for his Horror Soccer League, using fan fave films like Hellraiser, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Conjuring 2 as inspiration.
What we dig most about the jersey mockups is how creative Romero got with them. The jersey for the “Stranger Things” team is made to look like Eleven’s pink dress and blue jacket, for example, while the one based on Stephen King’s IT would essentially put the players into Pennywise’s clown suit. Also pay attention to the player numbers on back, which all have significance.
