The beloved Goosebumps writer joins the Marvel Universe!
Back in October, R.L. Stine mentioned during a Reddit AMA session that he was working with Marvel on a top secret project, and all those juicy details have now been revealed. As reported by The New York Times, Stine is heading into the world of comic books for the very first time with a five-issue “Man-Thing” series beginning in March, and he teased what we can expect.
The brand new series draws inspiration from EC Comics properties like “Tales from the Crypt,” and Stine promises that the stories will be funny, action-packed, and violent. Said Stine:
I’m going to do a lot of action and a lot of great violence and make it creepy, but I’m going to make it funny at the same time. It’s what I try to do in my books.
Stine says that Marvel offered him the choice to write several different characters, and Man-Thing was his immediate go-to. Not surprising, given Stine’s obvious love for monsters.
In the very first issue, Man-Thing will head to California on a quest to discover why he hasn’t been made the star of his own film. Stine’s stories have been brought to life by artists Tyler Crook, who drew the covers, and German Peralta and Daniel Johnson, who did the interior artwork.
