Hallucinatory Thriller ‘Lavender’ Gets a Domestic Release Date

Published

What if the past you remember is a lie?

Ed Gass-Donnelly’s psychological thriller Lavender was one of the most anticipated films at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival, and today we’re happy to report that it’s been scooped up for domestic release. Samuel Goldwyn Films and AMBI Group will partner on the release; it’s headed exclusively to DISH on February 3rd followed by a theatrical and VOD roll-out on March 3rd.

Abbie Cornish (Limitless, Sucker Punch) stars in the film as a photographer struggling with severe memory loss. Strange clues among her photos begin to suggest that she may be responsible for the deaths of family members she never knew she had. The cast also includes Diego Klattenhoff (“The Blacklist”), Justin Long (Tusk) and Dermot Mulroney (Insidious: Chapter 3).

Jane is forced to come to terms with her mysterious and tragic past after a horrendous car accident robs her of her memory. Along with her husband (Klattenhoff) and daughter, Jane returns to her childhood home and reconnects with her estranged uncle (Mulroney). To take control of her life, Jane must confront a mysterious lurking force and grapple with a past that continues to haunt her.

Gass-Donnelly (The Last Exorcism Part II) co-wrote with Colin Frizzell (Resident Evil: Apocalypse).

Matilda Firth Joins the Cast of Director Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ Movie

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
