It’s still happening, just not right now.
We learned last summer that The CW was developing a small screen adaptation of ’87 vampire flick The Lost Boys, and their plans for the series are impressively ambitious. They want to reimagine the beloved film across seven seasons, with each season taking place in a different decade beginning with the ’60s; the characters and settings will change from season to season.
Pretty cool, right? So what’s the latest?
THR reported over the weekend that with six pilot pickups already in place, The CW has rolled “The Lost Boys” into the next development cycle; in layman’s terms, instead of beginning work on the series this season, they will start developing the adaptation next season.
The first season of the series, which hails from Warner Bros. Television and showrunner Rob Thomas (“iZombie”), will be set in San Francisco during 1967’s Summer of Love.
Thomas will pen the script and executive produce via his Spondoolie Productions banner, alongside Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Juliana Janes, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley.
