Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez has fast become one of the most exciting filmmakers working within the horror genre. He made his feature debut with the incredibly brutal and franchise-faithful Evil Dead remake, and most fans agreed that Don’t Breathe was one of last year’s best horror films. Needless to say, if Alvarez is in charge, we are going to be excited.
While Alvarez preps upcoming projects that will put him back in the director’s chair, Screen Daily reports today that he and Good Universe have just formed a new company called Bad Hombre. The goal? To produce original films across the horror, thriller, and sci-fi genres, and support fresh new voices in the genre space.
Said Alvarez:
These are great times for original ideas and quality storytelling in the genre arena. That’s why I couldn’t be more excited about Bad Hombre and the prospect of supporting fresh and exciting voices in genre filmmaking.
Alvarez will be the creative lead, with Rodo Sayagues also on board.
Good Universe’s Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane previously produced both Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, so Bad Hombre is a natural extension of their partnership with Alvarez.
