One of my favorite movies of 2015 was the long-awaited feature film adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books, which was pitch-perfectly executed. Rather than adapting one or even a couple of the books, director Rob Letterman essentially adapted ALL of our favorites, bringing together all the villainous characters for a full-on monster mash that was so much damn fun.
A sequel is on its way, but not as soon as we hoped.
Originally slated for release on January 26th, 2018, we’ve just gotten word that Sony has bumped Goosebumps 2 all the way back to September 21st, 2018.
R.L. Stine himself recently noted on Twitter that he’s heard the story concept for Goosebumps 2 and, in his own words, “it’s pretty amazing.”
Last we heard, director Rob Letterman will be back, with Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz returning as producers. Screenwriter Darren Lemke will once again be penning this family friendly terror tale, drawing inspiration from the works of Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine. It’s assumed that Jack Black will again play Stine, but that hasn’t yet been confirmed.
