Never say never, they said. It’ll eventually happen, they said.
Some sad news to kick off your Tuesday, as Guillermo del Toro has seemingly just hammered the final nail in the Hellboy 3 coffin. Going into 2017, we had almost completely lost hope in the franchise becoming a trilogy, but our spirits were lifted when, back in January, Del Toro started to get serious about the project. He promised that if a poll on his Twitter account received 100,000 votes in a 24-hour span of time, he would sit down with Ron Perlman and Mike Mignola and talk shop. The poll received well over 100,000 votes, and Del Toro came through on his promise.
But he tweeted an update today. And it’s not good.
Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it.
Doesn’t get much more definitive than that. Hellboy, dear friends, is dead.
