The last several years have seen a rise in fan-created documentaries and books about all of our favorite horror movies/franchises, with series’ like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween all deeply explored like never before; there’s even a Pet Sematary doc, which just goes to show how awesome horror fans are. Up next? A book all about The Lost Boys!
Written by Paul Davis (Beware the Moon) and being published by Dead Mouse Productions, the limited edition, 200-page hardback book Lost in the Shadows aims to be the be-all, end-all resource for fans of Joel Schumacher’s vampire classic, and it’s set to arrive just in time for the film’s 30th anniversary – the movie came out in July ’87, and the book is scheduled for August.
The book will delve deep into the making of The Lost Boys, and confirmed contributors thus far include director Joel Schumacher and stars Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, Chance Michael Corbitt, Billy Wirth, and Alexander Chapman. Other interview subjects include writer James Jeremias and makeup effects artists Greg Cannom and Ve Neill.
Among other insights, the book will discuss things like rejected makeup designs and early drafts of the script, and it’s even set to visually reconstruct EVERY deleted scene.
LOST IN THE SHADOWS – THE STORY OF THE LOST BOYS delves into the complete history of the film, from its inception as a Peter Pan inspired kids adventure film directed by Richard Donner right through to its principal photography with Joel Schumacher and it’s enduring 30-year legacy.
