Fox is Remaking ‘The Fly’ Again; Here’s Who May Direct
Just under 30 years after the original black & white film was released, David Cronenberg directed one of the greatest horror remakes of all time, unleashing his practical effects-heavy version of The Fly in 1986. Thirty years after Cronenberg’s masterful remake, another is on the way.
Deadline is reporting tonight that J.D. Dillard (Blumhouse’s Sleight) is in negotiations to direct a second remake of The Fly for Fox. He would also co-write the script with Alex Theurer.
No details are available, but we can assume the story will again center on a man who begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after an experiment goes horribly wrong.
This isn’t the first time Fox has attempted to re-animate The Fly. In 2012, David Cronenberg revealed that he pitched a reboot they were interested in, but that never came to fruition.
More as we learn it.

‘Backrooms’ Now Available on Digital With ‘Everything Must Go’ Footage Coming to YouTube
After a massively successful box office run that scared up $364 million (and counting) at the worldwide box office, Kane Parsons’ Backrooms is now available on Digital at home.
You can either digitally rent or digitally purchase the A24 horror film on outlets including Amazon Prime, and it’ll cost you $19.99 for the rental and $24.99 for the purchase.
As for the extended 16-minutes of footage that were included with the recent theatrical event Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition, Parsons promises it’s coming online.
The extra footage is expected to hit the Kane Pixels YouTube channel this week.
The sixteen minutes of “Everything Must Go” footage essentially plays out like a new episode of Kane Parsons’ Backrooms YouTube series. You can read all about it right here.
No word yet on a physical release for Backrooms. Stay tuned.
Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in Backrooms as the owner of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, who discovers a strange doorway in the basement of the furniture showroom. He sets out to explore the mysterious, liminal space, walking headfirst into a creepypasta nightmare.
Renate Reinsve (A Different Man) also stars in Backrooms.
Meagan wrote in her review, “Backrooms is at once complex and sparse, but never repetitive. It might be set in 1990, but it effectively captures modern anxieties and isolation in a way that frequently makes your skin crawl. While the journey ultimately loses steam by its cryptic end, Parsons’ visual representation of the human psyche disturbs like no other.”
YouTube prodigy Kane Parsons makes his feature directorial debut based on his creepypasta-inspired video series, which debuted in 2022 and has amassed over 190 million views to date.
