One of my favorite things about Robert Englund is that he’s always watching and talking up new horror movies; whether at conventions across the country or on Twitter, the legendary horror icon can often be found recommending movies to his legions of fans, which always puts a smile on my face. But what is Englund’s favorite horror movie released in the last few years?
The folks over on TMZ did something useful for a change this week, conducting an impromptu little chat with Englund about what he’s been watching. In addition to heaping some praise on Jordan Peele’s Get Out (did anyone *not* love that movie?), Englund also named the recent horror film that made him “ruin his underwear”: S. Craig Zahler’s Bone Tomahawk.
Englund said of the 2015 film:
The movie that ruined my underwear last is called Bone Tomahawk. It starts out like an old school Howard Hawks western, with ya know John Wayne… Dean Martin… only this time it’s Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox from “Lost.” And then it mutates into a full blown western cannibal revenge movie. It’s unbelievable. It’s only about a year and a half old. Check it out.
Personally speaking, Bone Tomahawk was one of my favorite movies released in 2015, and I can’t possibly recommend it enough. Just know it’s not for the squeamish – one scene in particular is easily the most graphically disturbing kill I’ve seen in any movie in a long, long time!
In the film, “Four men set out in the Wild West to rescue a group of captives from cannibalistic cave dwellers.”
