In case you haven’t heard, Fox is still very much planning on remaking John Carpenter’s Escape from New York. They want another science fiction/action franchise to add to their roster alongside Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes, and they think Snake Plissken is their man for the job.
Last week, it was reported that Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Grindhouse) was in early talks to direct the redo, which is being written by Neil Cross and produced by Carpenter. The internet will no doubt be a flutter all weekend with cries of terror and joy, as well as a never-ending sea of fancasting.
