The Guest‘s Dan Stevens (above) stars in the thriller.
Deadline broke the news today that Netflix has acquired the global distribution rights to Apostle, the hotly-anticipated next film from The Raid director Gareth Evans. The Welsh filmmaker, who also co-directed the fan-favorite segment ‘Safe Haven’ in our own V/H/S 2, is set to begin shooting the period revenge thriller this coming April.
In the film…
A man travels to a remote island and attempts to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a religious cult. The group demands a ransom for the sister’s return, undermining the man’s resolve to rescue her.
Additionally, Michael Sheen, Lucy Boynton, Bill Millner, and Kristine Froseth have just joined the previously announced Stevens.
Aram Tertzakian and Ed Talfan are producing along with Evans. Executive producers are Nate Bolotin and Nick Spicer.
