More New Footage in Another Mini Trailer for ‘The Mummy’

She will not stop until she has remade our world into her own.

The new trailer for The Mummy was unleashed over the weekend, and we’ve received a TON of comments about it. Some of you guys think it looks like a fun action-horror flick, while others are none too happy about the decision to reboot iconic horror movies as, well, action movies. But hey. We could do worse than The Mummy being rebooted as a Tom Cruise action film!

Just spotted over on Twitter, another one-minute long trailer has been uploaded by Universal, and it’s home to some new footage that wasn’t in any of the previous trailers. The new footage delves a bit deeper into Prodigium, a research facility that examines and destroys monsters; the facility is seemingly run by Dr. Henry Jekyll, being played by Russell Crowe.

Even more interesting is the clip at the very end of the trailer, which appears to be some kind of spoiler. The titular monster seems to transform Tom Cruise’s Nick Morton into a mummy, as we see the pupil in one of his eyeballs split into two. Of course, this could just be a dream sequence or something like that. Though many have speculated that Cruise will become the new Mummy.

It’s also been speculated that Cruise will turn out to be our new Van Helsing, which seems a whole lot more likely. We’ll find out on June 9. Check out the new footage below.

Tom Cruise is joined in the Universal reboot by a cast including Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Star Trek Beyond), Annabelle Wallis (AnnabelleKing ArthurPeaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Russell Crowe and Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson”).

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The creative team is led by director/producer Alex Kurtzman and producer Chris Morgan, who have been instrumental in growing some of the most successful franchises of the past several years—with Kurtzman writing or producing entries in the TransformersStar Trek and Mission: Impossible series, and Morgan being the narrative engineer of the Fast & Furious saga as it has experienced explosive growth from its third chapter on. Sean Daniel, who produced the most recent Mummy trilogy, produces alongside Kurtzman and Morgan.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
