Bring Sam Home With Mezco’s New 15″ ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Doll

Horror icons don’t get much more lovable that Sam, the pint-sized protector of Halloween who won over hearts in Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat. Despite only appearing in one film to date, Sam is already worthy of standing alongside icons like Freddy and Jason; countless horror fans have tattoos of the pumpkin boy, and he’s been merchandised out the ass over the years.
One of the prized pieces in my personal collection is Sideshow Collectibles’ 15″ vinyl Sam doll, which was released around the time the movie came out and quickly became incredibly rare and valuable. The limited edition doll is going to cost you a pretty penny on eBay, but the good news is that Mezco is soon releasing a nearly exact replica of the doll for a fraction of the price.

Standing an impressive 15 inches tall, Sam comes complete with his infamous and mysterious sack as well as his deadly oversized translucent lollipop. Remove his film accurate hood mask to behold his twisted demonic visage. His tattered orange footie pajamas complete the outfit. Sam features over 9 points of articulation, and comes packaged in a specially die-cut window box perfect for display. Just remember, he can watch you from inside the box, so don’t blow out your pumpkin until midnight.
Look for Sam to creep into stores in Sept-Nov 2017.
While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.
This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.
You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!
In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?
“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.
