‘Resident Evil VII’ Reaches 3.5 Million Units Sold

Capcom released their year-end financial results on Friday, and the results bode well for fans of Resident Evil, but not so much for fans of Dead Rising.

According to the figures, Resident Evil VII, which was projected to sell 4 million units, sold 3.5 million units across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The report, however, considers this a “solid overall performance”. Likewise, the re-releases of other games in the series last year, such as Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 6, also performed well.

Meanwhile, Dead Rising 4, which was projected to sell two million units, underperformed at less than a million units sold. To add insult to injury, the port of Resident Evil 6 sold 1 million units. Ouch. Combined with the lukewarm reception by critics and fans for Dead Rising 4, the future doesn’t look good for another entry anytime soon.
