Jake Busey Playing Son of Gary Busey’s ‘Predator 2’ Character in ‘The Predator’!

Published

We learned back in March that Jake Busey had been cast in Shane Black’s The Predator, which was interesting considering the fact that Jake’s father, Gary Busey, was the star of original franchise film Predator 2. We didn’t have any character details at the time, but we were hoping that Jake would be playing the son of Gary’s character, Peter Keyes.

As it turns out, he actually is!

Speaking with The Red Booth, Jake Busey just spilled the beans.

[Shane Black] called me and he said ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son.’ And so as much as I have followed in my Dad’s footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played,” Busey told the site. “And I don’t think there would be any other forum where I would do that. I think this is the one thing.

He added, “If you liked the very first movie a lot, you’ll really like this one. This one has a lot of essence of the first movie.

What can we learn from this? It sounds like The Predator most definitely exists within the same universe as the original two Predator films!

Check out Jake Busey on The Predator set below.

The movie once again features a group of unsuspecting humans who slowly realize that fierce hunter-aliens are in their midst, this time in what could be a suburban setting.

Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Edward James Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen, Yvonne Strahovski also star.

Black directed from a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker.

Fox will hunt The Predator on August 3, 2018.
