While you wait for Cult of Chucky, dig into some fun Child’s Play history!
Released in 1991, director Jack Bender’s Child’s Play 3 isn’t exactly the most beloved film in the Child’s Play franchise. Set at a military academy, the second sequel in the series recast the role of Andy Barclay for another tale of the pint-sized killer doll attempting to play a game of “hide the soul”; it’s the first film in the franchise that I ever saw, and it’s also my least favorite of the original trilogy.
I do love that haunted attraction-set finale, however!
Why are we talking about Child’s Play 3 today? Because franchise fan Stephen Snowdon just took to Facebook to share a handful of unused art concepts for the third film’s poster. He says “they appeared on an auction site about a year ago.”
The 11 alternate concepts differ greatly from the official poster, which was a close-up shot of Chucky’s face. Some of the art spoofs other advertising campaigns, including the poster for 1989 film Look Who’s Talking, iconic World War I recruitment art, and even the Energizer Bunny commercials that were popular at the time.
