Legendary’s MonsterVerse will return to the big screen in 2019 with Godzilla: King of the Monsters and then continue with 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong; in the meantime, the monster-filled universe is being teased and expanded upon through comic books and even social media posts.
Videos that have recently been uploaded to the Kong: Skull Island Twitter account have been laying out the timeline of events that are part of the MonsterVerse, and a new one today teases the impending arrival of King Ghidorah!
Hinted at the very end of Skull Island, Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra will all be popping up in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the new timeline video reveals that the three-headed beast (in this particular continuity) was discovered just last year.
In 2016, “When Monarch discover an extraordinary superspecies sealed beneath the antarctic ice sheet, Dr. Vivienne Graham leads the effort to build a covert containment and research facility around the dormant creature. Her classified field notes contain a mysterious footnote: ‘The Devil has three heads.’”
The video also teases Mothra, discovered in 2009.
