We learned just yesterday that production on Season 8 of “The Walking Dead” had been temporarily halted in the wake of a horrifying accident on the Georgia set; stuntman John Bernecker, it was reported, suffered a serious head injury after falling 30-feet to a concrete floor. Sadly, Bernecker has died from his injuries.
John Bernecker died yesterday at Atlanta Medical Center, shortly after being placed on a ventilator. He was just 33 years old.
Bernecker’s nearly 10-year career as a stuntman dates back to 2009 and includes work on Jonah Hex, Dylan Dog, Green Lantern, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Looper, This is the End, Old Boy, Goosebumps, 22 Jump Street, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Witch Hunter, “Scream Queens,” Get Out and Logan, as well as upcoming films Black Panther and Rampage.
For Goosebumps, Bernecker provided the motion capture for the werewolf monster.
