Like the 1990 mini-series, Andy Muschietti’s new adaptation of IT is going to be split into two parts. The first film, headed our way this September, takes place in 1989, while the second film will jump ahead to the present day to catch up with the Losers’ Club as adults.
Muschietti hopes to begin prep on the second film next March.
Who will be playing the new adult versions of Beverly, Richie, Bill, Henry, Ben, Mike and Eddie? The young stars of the upcoming first film were asked for their dream picks at Comic-Con over the weekend, revealing who they’d love to see play their characters as adults. And they had some great choices, though this is of course all fantasy.

In the new adaptation…
A group of young kids face their biggest fears when they seek answers to the disappearance of children in their hometown of Derry, Maine. They square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
The kids in peril, the Losers’ Club, include Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Nicholas Hamilton plays Henry Bowers. The cast also includes Owen Teague, who plays bully Patrick Hocksetter. Bill Skarsgard is our new Pennywise.
The film will be in theaters September 8, 2017.
